The Network and Information Security (NIS2) Directive of EU entered into force on 17 October 2024 and is due to be adopted in Bulgaria in the coming months. The European Network and Information Security Directive NIS2 sets strict standards that aim to improve the protection of digital infrastructure in the EU. The Directive affects all critical industries and obliges organisations and companies operating or providing services in them to comply with the requirements and prescribed measures.
Special emphasis is placed on cyber security incident response. Obligations to report incidents and share this information between EU Member States' cybersecurity incident response teams are foreseen.
